FoxPhoenix's New Venture: A Webzine for the Hobbyists?

Yes, now that I am infatuated with Scribus, I now have the urge to create my own webzine! If you like astromag, or Firebase, then what are the types of articles you like in it? I know I really like the hobby entries about modeling and painting. I've also been known to enjoy a well written battle-report. So what do you think?

I am going to need some help making this. If you think you have a good article that belongs in a webzine, or are a decent artist that can make some good imagery for the publication, feel free to send your work to: cannedflame2005@yahoo.com

I am currently entertaining the idea of making it mainly modeling/painting, with some gaming and battle reports thrown in to balance it. The 'zine will focus on 40k. So again, if you have something worth putting in a magazine, send it in! I need your help to pull this one off!

Also, I am gonna need to name it! Send in name suggestions too!

  1. This is a tough road, I wish you the best of luck with this endeavor. I too ahve always wanted to put together a small 'zine but then I realise the work involved in even the smallest publication.
If there is anything I can do to help, let me know.

I would say to pick one thing and focus on that instead of trying to be a jack of all trades anc cover everything.

  2. I know I enjoy the painting and terrain building tutorials in any of gaming magazine the most. And then the in depth battle reports as well.

I much prefer the articles about how to paint/build to a higher standard than just to pump out a stand of trees, ruins, or a company of models that is just simple usable, but not so good looking for the gaming table. Although the latter have their times and places of use as well I suppose.

It seems with so many people wanting to improve their own skills at painting and making their own terrain this could be a nice niche to stick to or begin with.
